One of those nights

Every once in a while I need to stay up half of the night to feel alive, and tonight is one of those nights. For my work, I am transcribing an English interview. The Danish accent is as distinct as it is hard to follow. After writing down about ten minutes of tape (an hour’s work) I call it a day. I return to the Firefox window to return where I ended up earlier. The website of my university; not interesting enough anymore. My weblog; close. A wikipedia page I used to check company names I had to transcribe; I won’t need it until tomorrow. I also close the wiki page of a Danish drinking game with the same name as the company. Then I stumble upon the copy of the Danish Literature Magazine I downloaded and opened. I found it on my university’s site (so that one was interesting after all), and I start reading.

Maybe it is because I spent an hour of intensive labour involving the English language, but I can follow the text more easily than earlier today (the magazine is in English). I almost feel like a total language geek, like the ones you find wandering through libraries and second hand book stands on markets. I don’t want to end up like that, I dislike the idea of being a stereotype, but secretely I enjoy it.
